The Color Analysis Queen

My first introduction to seasonal Color Analysis was more than 20 years ago in esthetician school in Dallas. That is where I learned the traditional Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter system and established a strong foundation in temperature, value, and intensity, including how these characteristics present in the skin. At the time, I was analyzed as an Autumn.

I immediately began applying this education through my work in makeup artistry and personal styling. For more than 20 years, I have observed the world and people through the lens of value, temperature, and intensity. That foundation has informed my approach to makeup, image consulting, personal styling, and the thorough, structured Color Analysis program I teach today. My understanding of color is grounded in decades of study, observation, and practical application.

I continued my education through extensive professional makeup artistry programs before becoming an image consultant and personal stylist. I worked with women on body shape analysis, closet edits, personal shopping, hair, makeup, and creating wardrobes that reflected their identities and personal style.

In 2020, I returned to Color Analysis and began studying the advanced seasonal flow palettes. For the first time, I understood that I might not fit neatly into the traditional Autumn category. I completed advanced seasonal Color Analysis training with Christie Ressel, followed by additional remote professional training through the International Image Institute.

After conducting more than 3,000 personal Color Analysis sessions, I identified consistent gaps in the existing palette systems. One type of client was repeatedly overlooked or assigned to a palette that did not accurately reflect her coloring. That discovery led me to develop my proprietary 17th palette.

I created the Tatum Mae Method to give equal importance to intensity, value, and undertone. Using proprietary tools, the method makes these characteristics easier to see, evaluate, and explain. Its purpose is to remove anxiety and second-guessing from Color Analysis so analysts can trust their observations and deliver every client a clear, accurate result.

Today, I train and mentor women around the world in this method. I equip analysts to do it all: analyze color accurately, help clients feel beautiful and confident, and build businesses grounded in expertise, clarity, and professional integrity.
